Near the turn of the twentieth century, Essie Neibling had a photographic portrait made by the Davies Studio in Portland, Oregon.
In the photograph, Essie appears as a confident young woman.
A wonderful family historian noted significant relationships on the reverse of the photograph.
Essie is the daughter of Sophia Neibling and a niece of Adam Neibling, who is Sophia’s brother.
Essie is the first cousin of Olive B. Neibling, who may be a daughter of Adam Neibling.
The photograph was found by me in a flea market far from Portland, and more than a hundred years after the photograph was made.
Although the condition of the photograph is not good, I was excited by the wealth of family detail noted on the reverse of it.
By sharing the digital image of this young woman, I hope to discover more about her.

The Google map of the reverse of the photograph pinpoints the exact location (First and Taylor) of the Davies Studio.
