I really wish that I could learn to better follow the ideas contained here.
"Live your life that the fear of death can never enter your heart. Trouble no one about his religion. Respect others in their views and demand that they respect yours. Love your life, perfect your life, beautify all things in your life. Seek to make your life long and of service to your people. Prepare a noble death song for the day when you go over the great divide.
Always give a word or sign of salute when meeting or passing a friend, or even a stranger, if in a lonely place. Show respect to all people, but grovel to none. When you rise in the morning, give thanks for the light, for your life, for your strength. Give thanks for your food and for the joy of living. If you see no reason to give thanks, the fault lies in yourself.
Abuse no one and no thing, for abuse turns the wise ones to fools and robs the spirit of its vision. When your time comes to die, be not like those whose hearts are filled with fear of death, so that when their time comes they weep and pray for a little more time to live their lives over again in a different way. Sing your death song, and die like a hero going home.": -- Tecumseh - (1768-1813) Shawnee Chief

As you can see, I don't "go quietly into that good night."
Yes, I love this.
To me fear is the real problem, and we are conditioned by our cultures to be fearful of all the wrong things/people.
I just don't buy into superiority at any level but the skill/knowledge level. I will respect excellent skills and vast acquired knowledge, but will not consider the person superior because of their skill/knowledge/wealth/power.
This does not mean I did not play by the rules of the work environment, just that I never considered my boss "superior."
This was fine with most managers/VPs./CEOs, whatever.
To me the rule was, do the job or find another employer, not "garner favor."
That was one of the major causes of my departure from religion.
Strictly hierarchial structures, religions,
and fantastic fear generating machines,
The idea of a "spiritual leader" is beyond my comprehension/acceptance as a necessity of life.
I have never met or read of one who was not just another human, no matter how selfless and sincere or admirable.
I hope this doesn't mean I cant argue and bang heads with our gather conservatives.
I admit, it borders on child abuse.

At my age you live with the prospect of death everyday and it takes a while to get used to. Why in our infinite wisdom does our society spend forever acting like it doesnt exist?
It is as normal as rain or cold or heat.... it is the ONLY absolute thing that will happen in our life.. no ifs, no ands , no buts.... Each person reading this WILL die, that is a fact!
We are born destined to die, we spend all the time in between ignoring the fact we will die and become obsessed with useless garbage. If we ever face reality, our concerns go where they should be. To each other and experiencing the rain, the flowers and the true things in life. We only come this way once!
