Greetings, Gather writers. I'm late! It's Thursday, and that means it's time to submit your work to the Thursday Writing Essential.
I'm late because I've been video conferencing with editors about some work I'm doing on upcoming projects. Do you ever wonder where we would be today without some of the telecommunications devices we use? When I first started as a freelance writer, I waited endlessly for the mailman to arrive each day with an acceptance (or rejection!) letter. I stood in line at the post office a few times each month with manuscripts that required posting, insuring, and guaranteeing for delivery. Now we click and send. Such innovative inventions have made the lives of freelance writers so much easier.
Is there anything you miss as a result of these innovations? Do you miss printing articles on paper and mailing them? Do you miss the arrival of the postal service at your door? Or are you like me, and completely enthralled with the way things are done these days?
Tell me what you think about the advances the Internet and other means of telecommunications have meant to you as a writer. Use the comments section below.
For today's Thursday Writing Essential theme, I'd love to hear what everyone is doing this summer. Vacations? Guests? Parties? Our family is excited about the wedding of our middle son next month, and we've been busy preparing, hosting out of town guests for the bridal shower, and sharing in the wonderful adventure our son and his bride-to-be are experiencing. Shortly after the wedding, however, we will be awaiting good news from doctors as my husband undergoes cancer surgery. We are quite optimistic that the results will be successful.
So get writing! (Unless of course you have an excuse like I did.....again I apologize for this being late!) Please subit your work to the Gather Writing Essential, and use Thrusday Writing Essential in your tags and title.
