Starbucks is serving up free Wi-Fi access with their Coffee!Â
That's right folks you heard it correctly. As of July 1st Starbucks will make Wi-Fi access available for free at more than 6,700 Starbucks coffee shops. They are just one of the leading shops, and food chains to join in on the "Free Wi-Fi Available Inside" marketing technique to draw in more customers. Currently McDonalds is offering free Wi-Fi at 11,000 of its restaurants. It seems access to 3G may become irrelevant as more and more cities seem to now be Wi-Fi enabled, technically speaking.
In my opinion the decision of Starbucks offering free Wi-Fi should have been made ages ago! For real people!? We go in there to get a little work done, or to simply play around on Facebook, and as we sit there drinking our $5 dollar cup of coffee, syrup, ice, and milk- Starbucks told us we had to pay to access the Internet in their shop? I know everyone thinks America is spoiled, and we shouldn't always expect something for free, but I say if I am spoiled enough to pay for that $5 dollar coffee, and its accompanying $3 dollar cookie; I should be able to demand free Internet!
Do you frequent Starbucks often? What is your opinion of the switch to free Wi-Fi? Will you be likely to visit more now? If you are not a Starbucks frequenter; will this change tip the scale enough for you to step into a local store?Â
Please let me know what you think!

-Decent coffee and really pretty good breakfast (I like the spinach-cheese-sundried tomato rollup or whatever you call it)
-Comfortable, familiar surroundings for myself, and often to meet a business associate where we didn't have or didn't want to go to a nearby office
-WiFi access
At the time, they had Tmobile as a provider and I paid the $30 or whatever it was a month gladly to have it. To get it free would have been tremendous. I hope I don't have to travel again, but if I do this is great news, although I suppose McDonald's would do in a pinch, there are not Starbucks!
