My review of "The Karate Kid 2010" movie

This is my review of the new Karate Kid movie “The Karate Kid 2010”.  It’s almost identical in every way to the original.  It has a new cast and a new location.  The script had to adjust a little because of the location but the story remains the same…young kid moves with mom to new location and is attacked by bullies and learns how to defend himself and wins respect from bullies ….  

I loved this movie more than the original because of the location.  I get to travel through the streets of Beijing, China and across the China countryside without a passport or having to buy an expensive ticket.  The photography was spectacular and I enjoyed my journey very much. 

Dre, played by Jaden Smith, did an excellent job in recreating the old Daniel role (played by Ralph Macchio in the original movie) and Mr. Han (played by Jackie Chan) was a younger version of the original Mr. Miyagi role (played by Pat Morita).  If you enjoyed the original Karate Kid movie then you will love the new version.

I think it was a little bit of risk to make the age of the kid being picked on younger than the original, but they certainly got the right kid to play him. All I hear about is how great Jaden Smith was.

Yes indeed, Jaden Smith was great in this role. I think he will outshine his father in his future acting career and that's saying a lot. I hope he keeps focused during his growing years and doesn't turn into one of those "crazy teens" during his teen years. I have a feeling he will make a well balanced adult.

Sounds like a good movie. I have seen some of the clips on different 'talk' shows.
I think Will and Janna Smith are good parents, so he should grow up to be a good kid.

I am sure my grandson will be asking to watch this one when it is released on DVD. He does not have the attention span to sit through a movie at the theater.

I saw the movie with my grandchildren. We loved it and will buy the DVD when it comes out in the months to come!

I talked my son into waiting until this one hits the dollar movie theater. I didn't think it needed the biggest screen. With your description of the scenery, I may have been mistaken.

Great review. Sounds like I might enjoy it as much as the original. I can't wait for it to come out on DVD.

I really don't like Jaden Smith. I think he is over rated and most remakes have been lackluster. I will probably see this film at some point, but I would not pay anything to see it. I saw a lot of commercials for it on TV and what I saw did not impress. I was a big fan of the original films, saw the first 3 at the box office, the 4th one I saw on cable. Sorry if I pooped on the parade here.

I thought this updated version was okay, but I was never a fan of the original. : )
