CNN's Anderson Cooper should be nominated for a Pulitzer for his tireless reporting of the Deepwater Horizon's explosion and the subsequent oil spill of unprecedented proportions. This report is based on interviews with five survivors and three wives that brings to light details of what happened just before and right after the rig exploded. And it illuminates the lives of men who experienced something akin to the horrors of warfare. Survivors say the rig thrashed so violently it was like a live monster. Many feared death while boarding the lifeboats and some jumped overboard.
