Miley Cyrus is working harder than ever to promote herself as a pop star and break free from her Hannah Montana character. Celebrity blogger Perez Hilton gave her some help with a recent post of a picture of Cyrus getting out of a car that suggested she was not wearing underwear. Now Hilton could be hit with charges of distributing child pornography. Both Cyrus and Perez Hilton insist that the young star is not exposed in the photo.
It’s no coincidence that this photo was released just as Miley is set to release her album “Can’t Be Tamed†on June 21.  Apparently, the album title is right on. The teen’s new, spicy image has a lot of people talking about everything from her hot pants to a pretend kiss with one of her female dancers at a recent performance. This photo controversy is just one more thing to get people to tune in as she hits the talk show circuit.
Miley is defending her new image. I'm not trying to be 'slutty,'" she said in an interview. "I'm not trying to be like, go to the club and get a bunch of guys ... What I'm trying to do is to make a point with my record and look consistent, in the way my record sounds and the way I dress."Â
While Miley Cyrus is understandably trying to make the transition into young adulthood, she still has a huge fan base of young girls who look up to Hannah Montana. The last thing in the world their mothers would want is for their children to be pumping “Can’t Be Tamed†in their iPods. I understand Miley’s desire to leave her childhood character behind, but she shouldn’t forget who and what made her famous in the first place. Once people stop talking about the Perez Hilton photo, who over 10 years old is going to care?
