There's No Place Like Home

So vacation has to be eventful both positive and negative. 

I will start on the positive notes:

Positives:

-We went to visit Chris’ mom and she looks and is doing great after breast cancer surgery.

-We went to visit my Dad and stepmom for an hour.  They are doing great too.  Spending all our inheritance before they die and they should!

-I met some very nice people from Minnesota, Iowa, Ohio, Kentucky, and Jacksonville. 

-I loved Epcot in Disney.

-Day two of the ride home was heavenly, once we reached the mountains in West Virginia.  Where there is no humidity and the temps were around 70 degrees.

Negatives:

-Day One of our trip the Air Conditioner in the car broke.

-Day Two we got a speeding ticket in Georgia.

-I underestimated the amount of walking that was involved in Disney.  After the 3rd day of walking 10 hours a day, I could go no more. Chris took Jon to MGM and Zach and I stayed by the pool all day.  I went to the Fantasia show that night so only walked a total of 4 hours that day.  Advil stopped working day two and I had blister on top of blister on top of blister.  My feet literally looked like raw hamburger.

-NEVER go to Florida without air conditioning in the car.

A cranky hurting momma is not a good thing.

I am so glad to be home! 

I love Dorothy from the Wizard of Oz’s quote,

“There’s NO Place like home.”

Sorry about your vacation, at least you had some good things happen to you. We actually did go to Florida without A/C in our car and we drove about 7 hours and it was no fun at all, we will never do that again! During that same trip, someone hit our car and we had to get it fixed in Florida was there an extra week but overall, we were blessed because we had purchased points from my sister timeshare so we had a 2 BR, living room, 2 bath, kitchen condo which made it so much better.

Oh my, see it's best to look at the positives!! The good news is that our A/C is covered under the warranty so we will get it fixed this week...It was a 16 hour trip for us, we did it in 2 days...Glad you had a condo!! That would have made it easier for us, we had one room, kinda cramped.

Welcome home :) Wow, no AC and a speeding ticket definitely would make this mama cranky...ROFL about your description of the blisters. My goodness, I know those days of raw hamburger feet well (and have one coming up in a few days...I will think of you as my blisters inevitably erupt ;)

The lack of air conditioning alone would have made me miserable. Glad to hear that Chris's mom is doing well.

I think I melted somewhere between North Carolina and Georgia and we had not even entered Fla yet.....Chris won't lie to me and said Mama, I love you and you do not fare the heat well.......I looked like someone stuck my hair to my head with a can of grease that men use....even tho I showered 2x a day!! My make up slid off my face as fast as I put it on so I gave up...it was UGLY!! sigh, thank goodness he loves me anyways....I think I'll stay North....just to look acceptable for the rest of my days......

I had gone down with no air once...not fun. Speeding tickets not good either. Glad your home safe.

You gave some of the "reasons" my daughter talked me into staying on Disney property! LOL We love that Disney Transportation!

I'm happy you and your family made it home safe and secure. It's also nice to hear Chris's mom made it through the surgery with no difficulties. I'm on a neighbors PC right now. Mine is in the shop. And "AMEN" !!! Vacations are nice but, home is nicer. Take care sweety.

Truer words were never spoken. Even if the place is nice, and I'm having fun, NOTHING can replace my own bed, and I don't sleep well at all in hotels. I get the sense that, no matter how clean they look, they aren't clean.

Indeed, there IS no place like home!

Thanks for commenting as always and I'm kinda freaky too.......hubby laughed at me I had a can of lysol and sprayed down before we used stuff in the hotels!!!!!!!!!!! even the pillows.....you just never know......

To be a fun place and have blisters is a real bummer. I liked your format of listing the good and the not good. No A/C is really a negative for driving.

Welcome back. I'll go one step further...there's no place like my bed!

Temperatures today were 100...wow, I thought I was having a hot flash and entering menopause. Lord help us all if that's the case!

We lived in Houston for a year without air conditioning in our car, and when we first moved down here in 1997 one of our vans did not have air. It's no fun without air. Good thing you got it fixed. :)
