This past weekend "The Karate Kid" brought in $56 million on its opening weekend. Like father like son? The film stars Will Smith's son, Jaden Smith. Perhaps he learned a thing or two from his successful pop.
"The Karate Kid" is a remake of the 1984 hit and stars along with Smith, Jackie Chan and is set in Beijing.
"The A-Team," which brought in $ 26 million was a bit of a disappointment.
Here are some interesting facts about the two films.
The Karate Kid cost about $60 million less to produce than The A-Team.
The Karate Kid is the biggest opener of Jaden Smith's career, and the film has debuted larger than all but two of his dad's movies.
The A-Team is based on the TV series from 1983-87.
Here is a list of the top 10 movies from the past weekend:
- The Karate Kid, $56 million
- The A-Team, $26 million
- Shrek Forever After, $15.8 million
- Get Him to the Greek, $10.1 million
- Killers, $8.2 million
- Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time, $6.6 million
- Marmaduke, $6 million
- Sex and the City 2, $5.5 million

That's great that The Karate Kid had an awesome opening weekend. The movie looks really good. I think Jaden's career will go far just like his dad's has.
