Congratulations to the Chicago Blackhawks!
For the first time in 49 years the Chicago Blackhawks has won the Stanley Cup.
In Game 6 at Wachovia Center the Chicago Blackhawks defeated the Philadelphia Flyers 4-3 in overtime.
Patrick Kane finished the winning goal 4:10 into overtime, swiftly passing the puck across Michael Leighton. When he scored the officials were unsure to call it a goal but Kane was confident.
"I knew it went in right away." Kane said
Jonathan Toews, Annti Niemi, Bobby Hull and Stan Mikita helped their team to a great historical victory.
Jonathan and Conn Smythe won as the playoff MVP. He accepted the Stanley Cup and he gave it to Marian Hossa.
It was six years ago when ESPN called the Chicago Blackhawks the worst team of all sports, but over the past three years the Blackhawks have made a remarkable recovery and is now sitting at the peak of the NHL.
The Chicago Blackhawks have won the Stanley Cup four times in all; In 1934 when they defeated Detroit, In 1938 defeating Toronto, In 1961 defeating Detroit again and now in 2010 defeating the Philadelphia Flyers, who hasn't yet succeeded in winning the Stanley Cup.
I am glad the Blackhawks won but I hope noone dies tonight because as usual when there's a victory in sports people like to celebrate. In Chicago fireworks were popping and guns were blazing so lets just pray we have a safe evening!
