Betty White, who has recently surged into the spotlight after her appearance in May hosting Saturday Night Live says she is deeply saddened by Rue McClanahan's death. "Rue was a close and dear friend. I treasure our relationship," Whitesaid in a statemenÂ sent to People Magazine. "It hurts more than I ever thought it would, if that's even possible."
Rue McClanahan's manager toldÂ People Magazine that the actress died at 1 a.m. Thursday morning from a massive stroke.Â McClanahan had triple bypass surgery last November. While still recovering, she had a minor stroke in January.
