Democrat Richard Blumenthal lied about his military service, Republican Mark Kirk lied about an award he won during his military service, Jan Brewer lied about her father's death for Christ's sake.
Obama, who I voted for, should have been in the Gulf on DAY ONE of this oil crisis. Bush wasn't there on Day One during Katrina and I and many others criticized him for that. However the same people who criticized Bush for his mishandling of Katrina are not criticizing Obama for not being down there on day one, with a few exceptions like James Carville who is from Louisiana. Now I know that Obama couldn't really do anything if he had gone down there but it would have set a better example than Bush set when it came to handling a crisis that is destroying people's lives.
Political parties make it o.k. for us to chastize "their guys" for egregious acts and then justify "our guys" when they do the same thing. I'm tired of it. All leaders and politicians should be held to the same standards regardless of what party they are in.
Hypocrisy is the common trait that members of the Democratic and Republican parties share. Politicians are too busy putting what is good for the Party ahead of what is good for the people.

Maybe Obama should have been in the gulf on day 5? On day one there was no national crises. The BP disaster has been such an odd slow motion disaster. We were first even told that there was no oil leaking at all. It took a few days for the water to prove them wrong. Has BP gotten anything correct? But don't get me started.
And done what? Stand around with his hands in his pockets, watching robotic submersibles on tv? The Coast Guard was there on day one, exactly like they should have been.
Well you could say the same thing about BP's CEO. He's there but technically he's not doing anything. However he is at least getting a hands on feel of the situation.
Obama could have at least come down to the gulf when the crisis first became obvious but it's apparent that he chose to trust BP and refused to own the situation from the very beginning. That's how I see his handling of the situation anyway.
Yeah, even Obama has said something that I was thinking too, that one would have thought the oil companies would just know how to plug leaks by now. One would just assume that would be something we don't have to worry about.
Well, we do.
(So we're supposed to trust nuclear plants, too???!!!)
I'm not worried about who Obama trusted, this being all so technical, but the Coast Guard might be the ones who will end up looking a lot duller than they're supposed to, about oil and water.
