Facebook Question

I am not on Facebook but my son just joined a few days ago.

Tonight when he signed in, something mysterious happened and he swears he didn't tell anyone his password.

He had set up his Facebook account without a picture. I told him that we would find a good picture to post in the profile. When he signed in tonight, someone had posted a new picture of him. One that was taken a week or so ago on the 8th grade trip. I don't even have a copy of that picture.

How can someone post a picture at your profile when you haven't given them your password or username? Is it possible?

Did someone figure it out? If so, he has to change it to something impossible to figure.

Kids always tell their friends their passwords, or ones they are likely to use. They never worry about it until something bad happens.

That is really strange. Now is the picture of your son set as a profile picture or was the picture on the homepage (where you can see every ones status'? The only thing I could think of is that it must be somebody that he knows must have gotten into his account.

What happened is probably someone tagged him in the photo meaning they posted the photo on their facebook page and then put his name in the picture. If someone takes a picture of you and puts your name on it, it will also show up on your page. Chances are it was a picture posted on someone's page that he is friended with on Facebook. Any pictures of you on facebook with your name on them weather they were placed on your page or someone elses weill end up in your pictures. If he does not want that picture on his page then he can just go to the photo and untag it and it will come off of his page. It will however still be on the other person's page who posted it.

This is probably what happened. Check his friends pages and see if they tagged him in a photo.

Exactky what Rae said they could even have sent the photo from there cell phone to his page if they tagged it with his name.

Other people can post photos of you and tag you then they show up on your page as if you had posted them. He can remove the tag if he wants then it won't show up on his page anymore but it will still be on his friends page.

People can tag photos and it's kind of confusing as they only want you to see them and it doesn't mean you're in them! Facebook does have viruses so make sure you close out and reput your password each time! Salud

Thanks for the help. He says he thinks it was in his profile. They are posting actual pictures of him. All his school friends.

I will join FB at some point this summer while I have time to play there. Not now. Too busy.

Looks like several people answered this one just like I was thinking. If someone has a photo of him on their facebook and tags him in the picture, then it will show up in HIS facebook as well. I have pictures of me in the photo section of my profile that I would never have put up of myself cause someone tagged me in them.

Now, if it is his actual profile picture, then he must have given someone his password, either that or someone figured it out on their own.

This is what I told him. He must've given someone his password or someone figured it out. I told him to change it to something that no one could figure out at all.
