The Singing Stones by Phyllis Whitney

This is a very interesting book. It tells the story of a little girl named Jilly Ashe. Her father, Stephen Ashe who is now in a wheelchair. He designed the house built into the hill with spectacular views. Her mother who is a brilliant dancer, Oriana. She doesn’t have any time for her daughter.

There are a lot of characters. Aunt Vivian was married to Larry Ashe, Stephen’s father who died of a heart attack. Then Vivian married Julian Forester who believes in reincarnation. Vivian having seen Lynn on TV writes her a letter to come and help Jilly. Lynn McLeod was married to Stephen years ago. Lynn went back to college and completed her psychology classes and now helps children that they have no hope of surviving. With Lynn’s help sometimes they do survive.

There has been so much that has happened over the years, Stephen a building designer had an accident which puts him in a wheelchair. He doesn’t seem to care about anything. He has 2 male assistants to help him.

At the time of his accident, another man was killed. He had gone off the cliff and died. Jilly had seen everything but she was very young. Someone is trying to mess up Jilly’s head. They told her that if she says anything, Her daddy would go to jail.

Then Jilly’s, nanny is killed. Then things begin to happen to Jilly. Why would someone wish to kill a little girl. You have to read the book to find out about the singing stones.
