Type 2 diabetes affected millions of adults in the United States alone. Many wonder, what are the first troubling signs that they may be in danger of the disease? In the very beginning stages when blood sugar levels slowly rise, it may be hard to detect that there is the slightest problem. It is estimated that nearly one third of those that have diabetes, are walking around without even knowing. Here is a list of the most common symptoms that first appear when Type 2 diabetes is present:
Â
Increased appetite/thirst
Frequent urination
More tired/cranky than usual
Unforeseen weight loss
Â
Other signs that point towards a doctor visit are: blurred vision, slower healing cuts and bruises, numbness and tingling in the hands and/or feet, and even bladder and yeast infections. Of course, if you are having chest pain, this is another indicator of untreated diabetes, or it could be a more severe problem. Regardless, one should always consult a physician if any type of chest pain or shortness of breath is experienced. If diabetes goes untreated for too long, extreme health problems can occur, so it is important to communicate any uncertainties or concerns during checkups.
