This was fantastic... We do need to set aside our differences... Color shouldnt be a barrier for any American... We could achieve so much more if we all were on the same side...instead of the bickering...

That's the hard part. They preach about a colorblind society but then out of the other corner of their mouth they think your disagreement with Obama's deficit spending is because he's black.

Freedom is just a word. The freedom one has is going to work, paying taxes, insure everything you own, and paying enormous prices for health care, sure it is blind, always has been in our country.

I didn't flag your article, but of course, YOU already know that I wouldn't. While you didn't do this Jeff, what struck me is that some of the most hate-filled people are on here agreeing with your premise, while simultaneously showing themselves -- their true selves -- with their "liberal" statements.

The idea about being "colour blind" would also imply other types of tolerance, and it should include political affiliation.

Put another way, and more bluntly: if you've evolved to a level of being colour blind, you've already met, and resolved the issues with political affiliation; it's only logical.

Hypocrisy abounds here -- it is obvious, but enough of that -- that's for another thread!!!

I am of the opinion, and favoring NOT being colour blind,
I am of the opinion of seeing EVERY colour, and appreciating the beauty of that colour.

The God I worship is a God of INFINITE VARIETY, which reflects itself in the uniqueness of every person, of every leaf, of every living thing -- science is now seeing that every living thing may LOOK the same, but is UNIQUE, and it is humanity whom is blind to life's and nature's infinite distinctions.

Nonetheless, I understand what YOU were attempting to say, Jeff. That's why I admire and respect you. Thank you for your well intentions, and thank you for the post.

The colorblindness I espouse to is that of humanity being the same race. We only have different cultures. The beauty of America is the ability to be proud of our unity and willing to share our culture to everybody. The only reason why your skin is darker than mine is because thousands upon thousands of years ago our tribes lived in different climates.

Disagreeing with somebody's politics or their extreme affiliations is not a form of intolerance but a participation of the great American experiment. So long as you disagree with policy instead of implying sinister racist motives behind somebody's position.

It's well put, Jeff. Of course, that's what I believed you meant. Now, the key is to make it so, and what a challenge that is, as it has been since the beginning of this experience called "American Democracy". Notice how each generation ends up leaving it to the "next", or a "future" generation to solve. Well, I believe the time has finally come where all things that arise must converge, and the passing of the buck to a future generation is no longer possible. I believe we've reached the end of the road. We live in interesting times, to say the least.

I've noticed that the bigger government gets, the less free we are yes. Socialist promises don't work and unfortunately when America had debates regarding them, those opposed were called "uncaring" or "greedy". If you listen to the older conservatives talk about big government they predicted the same "end of the road" that you see. Those predictions were called "scare tactics" and "fear mongering". Nobody ever listened to alternative points of view because they convinced themselves that the alternative was evil.

America is in trouble for sure. But it can and WILL be fixed.

Jeff, we are not at the end of the road. Look at the places that our American Conservatives call socialist, France and Sweden for example. They seem to be doing fine, of course they don't have the huge defense responsibility we have, they are not out to dominate the world, In fact the nations of Europe are surrendering sovereignty to form a "more perfect" union. It sounds like the fear mongering you pointed out WORKED. YOU are scared that America -- as you know it -- is going away. Well America -- as it should be -- is being born.

Sweden is doing O.K mostly because they are neighbors to and large trading partners with Norway. France is in big trouble much like Spain, Portugal, Greece, etc...

You know Jeff, sometimes people claim to be Christians but yet , when you are a christian arent you supposed to find love for your fellow man? Arent you supposed to be forgiving of your trespassers? Or as one claims to be a christian , are they suppose to judge people? Just asking, this has nothing to do with you but just curious... As, I thought when you a Christian , you dont call people names or leave snide remarks...

Gary, Profanity Sells. I tried my best to find an example of profane language. Considering the FACT that the number one CHILDREN'S book in Canada a couple of years ago was Freddie the Farting Dog, the definition of profanity is changing. (I am not sure Freddie was the dog involved in the farting business, but the book was also a top seller in the US. I am sure someone will correct me.)
