Oh, Sandy ~ The Sad Rehashing of a Hollywood Marriage Gone Awry

Well, it has been all over the news so I imagine that most people know by now that there is trouble in the house of Bullock and James.  When one of America’s favorite ‘girl next door’ actresses married Jesse James the television show hosts of ‘Monster Garage’ back in 2005 people thought…well, we all saw that he was covered with tattoos and our Sandra looked like the poster darling for clean living.  Then the remarkable happened, there was just something about James, despite a former marriage to a porn star, that seemed true blue and for those of us who caught him on a past season of ‘Celebrity Apprentice’ there was something adorable about him. 

 

        The tipping point for me was one challenge when hair swirl Trump wanted him to give a call to Bullock in order to (boost ratings) participate in some charity auction.  James flatly refused, stating something about both of them keep work and their private lives separate.  In other words, James wasn’t going to drag the Mrs. out so Trump could act as if he was besties with her, AND FURTHER James was asserting he on the show representing himself, not Bullock.  I don’t know if word can actually portray how charming it was, but it convinced me that he loved her and wasn’t going to allow a career move by him to boost his recognition to exploit her just because she was more famous than him.  When Trump speculated that is was the sexual abilities of James that must have kept Bullock content in the marriage (it seems as if Trump believes that humans can only be motivated by sex and money) he only appeared to be a bigger goofball than I ever thought.  If Trump didn’t understand the appeal of a man like James, and just assumed he wasn’t very smart because he was tattooed and worked as a bodyguard before opening his garage (Trump said numerous snippy comments in that regard) it only proved that Trump will never quite be the savant that he thinks he is.

 

                I’m sure that if James could take back his encounter with Michelle “Bombshell” McGee the stripper he allegedly had an eleven month affair with while his wife was filming ‘The Blind Side’ the role that won her an Oscar where she gave a moving speech, which included special thanks to James, he would.  If one is to believe various websites, Bullock moved out of the home they shared.  Amongst other issues the couple had recently faced was a guardianship, that was eventually granted, of James’ youngest daughter and a dog named CinnaBun who keeps running away to only be found again. 

 

                One of the most appealing aspects about Bullock is that she appeared in interviews to know that being a Hollywood actress isn’t the equivalent of heavy lifting.   Yet the drawbacks to a life in the public eye is that if your husband allegedly cheats on you, you don’t hear the news from him or a trusted friend, no you hear in from your publicists who is informed of it via a tabloid – I don’t think anyone would be envious of her career on that day.  She even ended up canceling her appearance at the British premiere of ‘The Blind Side’, which meant that the party was canceled.  As the website Jezebel noted eight days before the news she had won the Oscar and now it seems as if her time to enjoy it has been cut short, especially considering that there’s talk about a Best Actress Oscar curse, which is set straight in this article.      

 

                Although it is true that most people who may stumble upon this article do not know the participants personally, the fact is that you feel you know them simply because they are in the public eye.  I think it is perfectly reasonable to feel for someone who is going through a difficult time even if you only know them through the secondary sources of print and film.  I think it is fairly universal to have experienced betrayal and to understand the emotional consequences of it, but to experience it so soon after you put your feelings out there for the public must be especially painful. 

 

        Speaking of which, doesn’t the plot to ‘Hope Floats’ contain a similar storyline to the one Bullock is currently living through? 

 

 

        Who knows if Jesse James is going to win back his ladylove – I’m talking about Bullock not the gal who poses with Nazi regalia.  Even though I do not doubt that in our fair company at this moment happy marriages/relationships are on the brink of failing due to bad decisions – if you are considering cheating on your significant other don’t.  Either fight for the relationship or be truthful and leave it.  Don’t think just because ‘In Touch’ isn’t interested in your story, that it won’t come to the surface.  Betrayal hurts and it doesn’t matter if you are rich, beautiful, talented, and have the world at your feet.  To paraphrase Lady Gaga, “After you break a mirror you can always glue it back together, but you’re always going to see the ^&^$#% cracks.

 

        Since I first published this article Bullock has filed for divorced, revealed that she is adopting a baby, and moved to New Orleans.  James has been in rehab and his first national interview is scheduled for tonight.
