In the episode, Neil Patrick Harris stars as Will's former classmate Bryan Ryan who has become a disgruntled member of the school board. He's disappointed he wasn't able to make a career of singing and decides he should bring the kids in Glee back down to reality. Not only does he tell them their dreams in life won't come true, but he even tries to put an end to the club. Will immediately jumps in and tries to teach Bryan that without it, these stars will burn out.
Meanwhile Jesse returns and gets back with Rachel. She confides in him that she's always dreamed about finding out who her mother is, yet at the same time is terrified to find out. We find out that Jess has an ulterior motive for trying to help Rachel out.
Throughout the episode, Tina tries to get Artie to take part in her dance routine because she knows he wants to be a dancer. She convinces him that one day he'll be able to walk again and that doctors are currently doing research on spinal cord injuries. His hopes are high and he dreams of dancing in a very well choreographed flash mob dance sequence. Unfortunately for Artie, this is one dream that just might be crushed.

I loved seeing Neil Patrick on as a special guest. Perhaps he does get type cast, but he does a great job at playing the obnoxious, narcissistic guy. The mullet in the beginning was hilarious! Meanwhile, Artie's story didn't make me smile or laugh at all. Though I knew his expectations were high, my heart sank when Emma brought him back to reality about his condition. I felt pretty bad for Rachel too. As a kid or teenager, it's really difficult to address big issues like this. I could relate to how she felt.
