From The Daily Beast:
The last chapter in John Edwards’ sordid life: The National Enquirer reports that Edwards is looking for a plea deal that will allow him to avoid jail time in the grand-jury investigation into alleged payments of campaign funds he made to his mistress Rielle Hunter. A source tells the Enquirer that Edwards has been working “around the clock behind the scenes with his lawyers to deal with prosecutors.†The source says he’s willing to plead guilty to misdemeanor charges.

If you want to cheat on your wife then that's between you and your wife. However, don't lie about it on the campaign trail, don't use campaign funds or other public money to pay your mistress, and don't tell other people how they should live don't claim to stand for family values and marriage. It's reprehensible whether you're a Democrat or Republican.

This one was sad. They seemed like such a devoted couple and with Elizabeth's illness and all, yikes! I just lost respect for John Edwards after that.
I did not support Edwards' campaign. I never "liked" him for some reason. I don't care if he goes to jail, but I'll be damned if he does jail time, and Bush/Cheney/Rove don't.
