YOU READ IT HERE FIRST, FOLKS!!!!
The national media has finally picked this up--guess the graduation date approaches and they're getting ready for the next chapter in this story.

Fred Phelps is at again; he has stated his intention to return to his home state of Mississippi in order to picket the graduation ceremonies of Itawamba Agricultural High School, where, he says, the parents 'weren't tough enough' on their treatment of Constance McMillen.
No word on whether Ms. McMillen will be attending or participating in the graduation ceremony.
And just a word on some of the comments attached to the reporter's blog:Â Itawamba Agricultural High School is in the northern part of the state. Jackson, Mississippi is the capital city and is located in the west central part of the state--over 200Â miles away.
The Clarion-Ledger's offices are located in Jackson; Itawamba Agricultural High School is located in Fulton, Mississippi.
Everybody straight on the geography now? Jackson is probably the most 'chili palmer cool' liberal place in the state; elsewhere it's as red as a baboon's...well, you get the idea.
Â
And for some in-depth background on Fred Phelps....Â

I already knew he was born and raised in Mississippi; I had no idea he was a civil rights attorney. How's that for confusing the issue? Yep, if your first thought on hearing or reading the phrase 'civil rights attorney' means 'good guy', think again. Fred Phelps was once known as a 'brilliant' civil rights attorney, willing to take on the cases no one else would touch....now he delights in creating them. Â
Pretty unbelievable, to me.
One bit of personal information I found very interesting, however.....out of thirteen children, eleven of his children are attorneys. And one son is estranged and has become an atheist.
Can someone please explain to me how a worshipper of a God of love can justify such behavior? (20 comments on posts to the person who can do it with citations from the red-letter Gospels only; 50 if you use The New Oxford Annotated Bible, Revised Standard Version. You are right about Jackson. We've had some of our best weekend outings in Jackson. Saw the Dresden Exhibit there and some others. Had a ball in Jackson last year for the St. Patrick's Day Parade.
Jackson has one of the largest St. Paddy's Day parade celebrations in the country. I don't know why, exactly...except that maybe it's an excuse to throw a big party when the weather is (usually) somewhat cool. July 4th is much more subdued--it's far too hot.
good! that man is a fool and a menace. and so are his followers. can you imagine what sunday morning service is like?
"can you imagine what sunday morning service is like?" I almost wish for blissful ignorance...almost. But yes, I can--and don't understand how any gathering like that can call itself a church. House of worship, perhaps--worshipping hate, that is.
