As I read the posts here on Gather it frustrates me to see the infighting between the political parties. The posts are put up for the most part to start an argument. No one is going to change another's mind so I wonder what the point is of all this negativity. I read an article today that said Republicans lie and their lies are horrific. He did go on to say that Democrats lie too but not as badly as Republicans....WHAT??? A lie is a lie is a lie. I could not believe I read that. Is it me? Or has everyone lost sight of what's truly important?
Imagine a world where:
Democrats and Republicans work together to solve:
lost jobs, healthcare, the economy, Social Security funding, hunger, the national debt and on and on.....instead of fighting and lying constantly to one another and the citizens of the United States.
We are a land of plenty. There should not be the issues we have here. People that work their whole lives and lose everything due to illness. They work for retirement and it gets wiped out, they get sick and lose everything they own to pay for their illness. There are families that have lost their jobs, homes, cars and the like due to the times we are living in. It's a crying shame. We need to work together to make America the place it once was.
LET'S STOP FIGHTING PEOPLE AND WORK TOGETHER TO MAKE ALL OF OUR LIVES BETTER!!!

Mankind has never seen "eye to eye" in all things, but we shouldn't just lie down and let the liars have their way. Speak out, show examples of the truth, teach as many as possible!
Not all articles are written for that purpose though. Many are posted for informational purposes. Since some of us spend a good part of the day on here, it's a good way to catch 'breaking' news, or inform others of it.
The fighting comes when an article is attacked from the opposing viewpoint with unfounded or unproved opposite information, usually followed by personal attacks against the author of the post.
I'm afraid in recent years, the viewpoints have become polar opposites in many areas, and you will not see any middle ground agreements.
Just because I voted a certain way only means that I agree more with this person than with that person. Both may have some good ideas, but it also means I don't necessarily agree 100% with the person I voted for either.
