Deep Well Is Not Spilling Oil, Official Says

NEW ORLEANS — A Coast Guard official said Friday morning that oil was not spilling from a deep-water well off the coast of Louisiana, apparently easing concerns of a potential environmental disaster days after an explosion on an oil rig left 11 workers missing and a one-by-five-mile sheen of oil on the Gulf of Mexico.

I have mixed feelings about off shore oil exploration. Its not good and destroys the eco-system of nature and puts wetlands in danger. However, it will help ease the pressure of buying oil from the world market.

There is more oil in N. Dakota that has not been drilled than there is in the Gulf of Mexico.

The off-shore platforms actually attract fish & sealife....they have agood safety record and I have no problem with them...! Caught many a good fish at off-shore platform sites off Louisiana, Mississippi, etc...!
