When my daughter was young my Dad had retired as a sergeant from the NYPD and moved to Florida. He was bored, retiring at a young age of 42. Being the people person that he is, he got a job as a Popcorn guy at Disney. That meant a handful of free tickets every year for family fun. I had just gone thru my divorce, hence no money, so Dad was kind and sent me tickets for my daughter and I to go to Florida for a visit to him, my step-mom and Mickey Mouse.
It was a magical experience.
Here we are 16 years later and since then my Dad quit Disney, went and got his electricians license, opened his own business, successfully sold it and is truly retired now.
He's still in Florida but no longer near Disney. My sons have never been to Disney so we decided to finally take the plunge and take them. On their last day of school this year we are picking them up from school and taking the looooong drive with children ages 10 and almost 6 on the road toward the magical land of Disney.
Wish us luck and safe travels. Did I mention my husband is a Disney fanatic?
