Tonight I decided to visit the web site of the Westboro Baptist Church. The reason was because a father is being forced by the united states court system to pay this churches legal fees after suing them for their protest at his sons funeral. So I went looking for their site to see if they planned a protest near here because personally I want to protest them. I was appalled at the signs I saw and even more appalled at the kids that were carrying them. Note the sign in the very last picture. A kid this age shouldn't even know what that sign means much less be a part of such a hateful movement. Are these the future leaders of this nation?? I Pray to God that they aren't. Is all hope lost? View the pictures and then scroll to the bottom for a video of a protest by students in Philadelphia when Westboro Baptist Church was supposed to protest against a production of Rent and another production in the city.

Westboro Baptist church elected not to show up. If more cities do this how will they spread their hate? I just hope this isn't the direction some of our political protesters are heading! Enough with the hate.
By the way the pictures seen here are courtesy of Westboro baptist Church's Website "1955-2010 © Copyright Westboro Baptist Church. You may use any of our material free of charge for any reason. "

Actually, people such as this should face serious trouble, but they dont... Instead, the Snyder family was ordered to pay the court costs... which I heard that Bill Oreilly would pay the charges for this family... Those judges should be asked to step down from their cozy positions too..
I disagree. While you may not like the message and it is truly distasteful to most of us these people are exercising their freedom of speech. These judges are following the constitution.
I do get tickled about the Icon... Seems there are three of them that change Icons to what the other is using... When I saw Ann Coulter on one of the others posts I knew what was coming lol
I'm an evangelical ... me? Be careful, I'm rolling my sleeves up :):)
Bryan, I'm kind of with you. As desperate as I am to get rid of those people from our state, I want to go by the rule of law. I don't want FREE SPEECH tampered with ... and I thought the same thing; losing accuser pay the bill. I am really, really, glad O'Reilly stepped in.
But this is the kicker:
The appeals court ordered Snyder to pay Westboro $16,510 in court costs. While it's not unusual for the losing party in a civil case to be required to pay some costs, it rarely happens when an individual sues a private entity, especially when the case is still active, experts say.
{emphasis mine}
Why?
But that doesn't explain why the judge ruled that way if it is, in fact, not the usual way of finding.
That guy probably irritates more people than anyone else in Kansas.
Snyder's attorney's, Sean Summers and Craig Trebilcock, both military veterans, took Snyder's case pro bono so at least he doesn't have to be concerned about attorney fees on his end.
I knew that O'Reilly pledged to pay the $16,510, but did you know that the American Legion has raised more than $20,000? Snyder's attorneys said that every day, hundreds of envelopes arrive at Summers' office. Snyder plans to use the money for other court fees and to donate what's left over to veterans.
Then to add insult to injury here, good ol' Margie Jean Phelps, one of Fred Phelps' daughters and an attorney, said the church plans to use the money from Snyder to stage more protests.
I can't even fathom the emotional toll this is taking on Snyder.
I'd like to know how the Phelps kids in California are doing. Wonder if they changed their names. It's amazing that so many of the adult children stayed with him seeing they are intelligent enough to be attorneys. It seems once they got a little older, socialized with other young adults and could read the news for themselves, they would all slip away. And how in the world did they find spouses educated enough to attract them who would buy into it as adults?
I don't know much about the kids in California. I haven't followed that side. And I suppose if you listen to Fred Phelps enough without other, stronger influences, and you aren't a strong person to begin with, you can be lead just about anywhere. It's pretty sad.
BTW they have nothing to do with tea parties Jack.
Yep.
Is this the same outfit who's preacher prays for someone to assasinate Obama?
"Is this the same outfit who's preacher prays for someone to assasinate Obama?" I wouldn't doubt it.
Sunaura, I agree there are a lot of hateful preachers and congregations out there, but in my research I have found some good ones as well that the sole purposes of the church are to gather for praise and to help their community. Theres good and bad people out there, Christian and otherwise.
now: another way to spread political views and empty pockets...
its sad that something like going to church could be turned into what it has become...
and ill say not ALL are like that. but it is quite a trend lately
The Birds always indicate 'the worldly.' He said that the churches that went by His name would grow huge as time went by... but many of them would be fake. The world using His name.
You really have to go to a church to see whether or not they are a group that are mainly following Him. The others do damage. So you all are right.
Here in the Kansas / Missouri area we are fortunate to have a lot of really good fun, strong churches. They may still just be 2 to 10%. Who knows?
But I don't know any that can be compared to that man's church.
I've seen him. One year we had all the local candidates come to share their platform with us. We lined their chairs up on the platform ... and there he was! In our church on our platform. Unbelievable :):) No one voted for him Ha ha ha.
I actually quit Gather this morning for a few weeks. And here I am back on tonight. Drama for nothing :)
You know what Ryan, I can understand that response but I'll bet a higher % of kids taken to church grow up and stay in the church than kids that don't have parents that take them to church.
Like I said up higher, it doesn't mean they've accepted Christ, put their faith in Him, but just wanted to mention that to kind of balance the idea you presented.
Of course I'm guessing :) There are probably stats out there.
I had too many people to take care of and would rather sit in my lounge and read rather to listen to someone preach. And since my Mom died a couple of weeks ago, there's no one older than me in the family that can make me go :)
its not the future, its the past grasping at straws and getting the only people they can get to listen on their side. their own children. because what 4 year old thinks "hey, my daddy might be wrong"
none that i have met
i dont think hate is our future, at least not a future i will have any part of creating!
Saying hateful things isn't a hate crime. Teaching your children to hate isn't a hate crime. Hate crimes involve acts of violence.
Private property rights answers this question. The owner of the theater can tell people on his property not to falsely cry fire. The people are still free to cry fire but the owner(s) can demand they leave the property if they do so. They can make it a condition of being on their property that a fine should be paid if someone causes unneeded disruption by crying fire.
God hates no one
They'd better notify God then, because according to the Christian Bible, the Jews are God's chosen people. He's focused his ministries toward the Gentiles for a while, but I never read anything stating that he changed his mind about the the Jews. He still has promises to fulfill to them.
These people are seriously screwed up in the head.
Anyone who knows anything about religion knows that God doesnt hate the Jews.. there will be lots of false profits and they sure fit the mold for this one... False, they are.. I think though that this is teaching kids to hate and now you know where are future cult members will be...Is this any different than what Hitler was doing to the kids? These people should be considered dangerous and watched just as a hate group is..Right now its only talk but who knows where their hatred will lead them too... Scary..
