I received an email about a book that I'm going to have to buy calledChristian Life & Character of the Civil Institutions of the U.S.
Â
It's a book that was published in the 1800s and has been out of print for a while. Thankfully, it's been published again.
Â
The blurb about the book includes these words: Organizations like the ACLU and Americans United for Separation of Church and State have done their best to ignore the content of the massive compilation of original source material found in this book. If Americans ever become aware of the content assembled by the author, the arguments for a secular founding of America will turn to dust.
While I was exploring the Patriot Depot - Supplies for the Conservative Revolution, I made some wonderful discoveries.
Â
Here's a letter to President Bush you can send to him, telling him how much he is missed. Open Letter To President George W. Bush
Â
The letter begins:
Â
On behalf of millions of Americans—many of whom are former critics—we are writing to say that we miss you. Although time is often kind to former presidents, something different is at work here. While it usually takes 10 or more years for a good president to be appreciated for his contributions, in less than 18 months Americans of all political persuasions have begun to miss your strong leadership, no-nonsense foreign policy, and pride-filled vision of American exceptionalism. In the short time that you have been out of office, our country has sunk to an unprecedented low point, a state that exceeds even the “malaise†of the Jimmy Carter years.
Â
And it ends this way:
The two greatest assets an American president can have are not a majority in Congress or a high likability quotient. Rather, they are the trust of the American people and the respect of our enemies and allies. Unlike President Obama, you understood this. You had the trust of the American people and the respect of our enemies and allies. President Obama has failed to win either. As a candidate, Ronald Reagan asked Americans “Are you better off today than you were four years ago?†The answer then was no. Americans are now asking a similar question: “Were we better off under President Bush?†Increasingly the answer to this question is yes. Mr. President, we miss you.
Â
Of course, the t-shirt and bumper sticker "Miss me yet?" is available for purchase as well.
Â

Â
There is also an open letter to President Obama.
Â
The letter begins:
Â
We are writing to tell you what millions of Americans—including many who supported your election—now believe. It is time for you
to do your job—no more excuses, nor more blaming President Bush, no more confusing words with action. You won the election. Start doing your job. Since your performance in office to date makes it clear that you do not understand what that job entails, let us respectfully explain.
Presidents are supposed to be good stewards. This means they are to take good care of what has been entrusted to them by the American people. As President of the United States and America’s steward, your job is to maintain our country’s position as leader of the free world and its future as an economic and military superpower. To do this, you are going to have to make some changes, and not those you vaguely promised during the presidential campaign. Mr. President, here are just a few of the changes Americans would like you to make:
Â
Then it lists many changes needed to this presidency, including:
Â
Stop trying to force a healthcare bill on Americans who do not want it. No issue has come to symbolize your presidency more than health care reform. Reform may be needed, but none of the various versions of your healthcare reform bill come even close to the answer. True reform would result in better healthcare at lower costs. Your reform will result in a lower quality of care at higher costs and medical decisions being made by government bureaucrats.
Â
The web site has numerous books, tapes, mugs, t-shirts and bumper stickers, like the ones below.

Â
I'm going to have to spend some more time on the Patriot Depot - Supplies for the Conservative Revolution
site. I love what I've seen so far.
Â
Conservative and proud. That's me.
Â
Here is the page where you can send the open letters to Bush and Obama: We Miss You Letter and Stop Blaming Bush Letter. Patriot Depot has a goal of getting 1 million signatures for each letter. So far, the count is at 16, 349.
