'The History of Love' is a brilliant novel by Nicole Karuss, who also wrote 'Man Walks Into a Room.' Her husband is Jonathan Safran Foer who wrote 'Everything is Illuminated' which was made into a movie starring Elijah Wood. They are like the power couple of modern literature- well, in my eyes at least.
'The History of Love' has had an IMDB page for years and at one point had a director on the page set to make the movie, but now everything has disapreared. However, it does show that the movie will be released 2011.
'The History of Love' is a touching and heartbreaking book, that is crafted beautifully following the main characters Leo Gursky and young Alma separately until their eventual meeting. The last few pages of the book had my mouth dropping and the tears weeping from my eyes-and then the connections that had been made throughout the book hit me one after the other, until I once again had to read this piece of brilliance. I am positive that with the right actors, director and script that this movie can be great and a potential Oscar winner.
The IMDB page also has a casting rumor that Emma Watson, best known as Hermione from the 'Harry Potter' movies is set to star in the movie. That would most probably be for the role of Alma. I think she is a bit old for Alma, and doesn't have the right look, but Hollywood and makeup can make all things possible. Let's hope that more information will soon be available on when 'The History of Love' movie will start shooting.
