It seems these days like there are only a handfull of cartoons left on tv. Nick, which was built on cartoons hardly has anymore. What happened to those great shows I grew up with like Rocket Power, Invader Zim, and Rockos Modern Life? Now theres just stupid shows like 'iCarly' and 'Big Time Rush'. If there were a show that could kill your brain cells, those would do the trick. Disney channel has the same problem now. What happened to House of Mouse? Or Timon and Pumbaa? Now theres 'Hannah Montana' and those gay Jonas Brothers.
It also looks like out of the few cartoon that there are, only a few are actually good. Even Spongebob, which has lasted years and was an excellent show, has gone down hill. Is there any hope for another good cartoon generation like the '90s?
But, there is slight hope on the horizon, I've seen a sneek preview of a new show that brings hope. Its called 'Adventuretime with Finn and Jake'. This upcoming show is based on the Annie Award winning 2006 short 'Adventuretime' that revolves around a boy and his magical shapeshifting dog that save a princess from the evil Ice King. I found this short to be extremely smart, funny and most importantly creative. After watching the sneak peak of the very slightly altered show, I can tell you this show will be amazing.
So, will (good) cartoons ever come back? Will shows like 'Hannah Montana ultimately take over our television? Who knows. Hopefully we can turn this mess around with new, creative shows like 'Adventuretime' that bring more to the table than just dumb humor. Thank you for reading. And be sure to state your thoughts in the comments below.
