Last Monday we celebrated.

bob and I have been married for twelve years, March 21. We both had Monday off, so we just "got out of town". We drove about an hour from our house, and had a wonderful time. For breakfast, we went to a Cracker Barrel Restaurant and Country Store. I should have taken my camera in with me, breakfast was spectacular. It was centered around a plate of pancakes, topped with a very generous amount of black berries and smothered in whipped cream. It came with choice of meat and two eggs cooked to order. I drank raspberry lemonade with my breakfast, as I had had plenty of coffee. I do not do soda at breakfast. The raspberry lemonade was the "real deal" and you could see fruit pulp floating in it. It came to the table in a frosted glass mug. After breakfast, we headed to the Sedgewick County Zoo, in Wichita. We always bought memberships when the kids were home. It has been awhile since we had the time to go once a year, let alone the two or three times it will take to "get our money's worth". This year it looks as if we will have more time, so we bought a year long membership. With it we get some free passes for guests and some reciprocal memberships around the country, and a quarterly magazine called Zoo Tracks and a free calendar featuring the local zoo animals.

The day was nice for visiting the zoo, although I have to admit I am out of shape from being off my feet for so long. We only visited about half the zoo on Monday. We will go back again soon, though. We did see one of the newest exhibits, the Humboldt Penguins. These birds are native to Chile and Peru, but enjoy the cold waters that are off shore due to the Humboldt current.

After the zoo we went to Jimmie's Diner for a late lunch, or early supper. That will be another post.
