Arizona, piqued over passage of a Health Care Reform that does not go far enough, has defunded the Children's Health Insurance Program. Arizona's Governor has decided the way to make the feds stop paying to keep kids healthy is to refuse to participate in the program. We have a Republican Candidate for Governor, Buzz something or other a veteran Marine, who probably thinks the action is insufficient. He has not made any specific comments on the move, but from his very expansive TV campaign, I suspect he thinks the sick children of Arizona should be allowed to quietly pass into oblivion, They would probably grow up grateful to the government if they were cured by CHIP financed medical care anyway. The very last thing a Republican wants is ANYONE being grateful to the federal government.

Let's set aside all the incredible backroom threats, bribes, arm-twisting used to push health care through (such measures unprecedented in scope and intensity by essentially all commentators).
Then let's overlook all the unseemly content included in this mess (whether fixed so far or not); such things as treating citizens in one state differently from those in another or choosing to specifically single out and tax one industry or group of people but not another.
After all that, we are a still left with legislation that affects every American in a profound manner against vehement and principled opposition and yet was passed by the thinnest of mathematical margins. Never before has such far reaching social legislation been handled in such am inappropriate and indefensible manner.
That is why there is, and should be, strong attempts to overcome these very real weaknesses with this supposed 'landmark' action. Arizona's efforts are along that line.
The Democrat's created (and the President acknowledged last year) a situation that would promote near ungovernability. Insulting those that hold opposing views is not the best strategy toward achieving unity especially when they represent such a large proportion of the country. What you are in effect saying is, "We passed it . Deal with it. To he$$ with any of your views." That is tyranny, straight up.
Yes, let's set them aside and consider this. WE as a nation are going to spend nearly three trillion dollars of our national treasure on the waste of the the fraudulent war against the Nation of Iraq, and the MESS made of the attempt to get Osama Bin Laden and destroy the Al Q'aida terrorist organization. Arms were twisted, Americans were put in harm's way without regard to cost or benefit, to advance a policy that Americans would have opposed with vigor had they not been kept from the truth. You are not using the ability to analyze that every living human being was granted by birthright.
But hey, I understand. Neither they nor you care about following the rules and sticking to a proven process when you have an agenda to push. This was pure "ends justifies the means". That is indisputable.
The fact that legislation, especially huge unproven legislation like this, affects so much and so many is another indictment against the unprofessional slipshod back-room manner in which this health care takeover was pursued.
Legislation rarely substantially affects everyone. This does. As such it should only be done with broad support (as Medicare, Social security, Civil Rights, etc. were implemented) .
That this was not done this way reveals the bankruptcy of the Progressive leadership in both the Congress and in the White House.
Ken you are either in the thrall of the American Corporate Elite, or you are one of them and doing all you can to retain their power to exploit. STOP IT.
When I suggested that it might be better to just provide me with a letal dose of sedatives, my doctor insisted that I talk it over with a psychiatrist. He was furious. that I was unsure about fighting rather than opting for life.
YOU ARE JUST PLAIN WRONG, AND YOU WELL KNOW IT. Knock of the lies. What kind of people do you think Democrats Elect? I suspect that you think they think like you, and are afraid that it might come out that YOU are the one suggesting death panels, After all, look at all the money we could save.
Canceling the health insurance for 35 thousand children is against children. I can't for the life of me see how you could disagree. Cutting funding to K thru 12 education is not IN FAVOR of children either. Cutting Public transportation hours is NOT helpful to children. Nor is it helpful to people who need transportation to work.
The move in Arizona may be justified by some insane idea that we can't survive unless we cull the herd, but it is ABSOLUTELY AGAINST CHILDREN.
