I went today to do our weekly food shopping. I got done and was trying to cash and for some reason it would not take my bill. I go through the u scan ( i find it to be easier). I went up to talk to the guy and he finshed out my order for. Well the guy owed me change. He told me he would be right back with my dollar.
I thought okay, I will continue bagging my food and wait on him. Well I get done with bagging my food and the guy comes over and hands me my change. I look, and he handed me back 80 dollars in stead of a dollar. There was a split second where I thought humm... his mistake I should just take it and let the groceries cost me 20 bucks. Then I look at my daughter and right then and there I knew what I had to do. I looked at the money and told the guy " you gave me way too much change" he looks at me like I have green skin and told me "are you sure?" I am like yes I am postive I showed him my receipt and I told him you only owe me a buck.
After all was said and done I thought you know I know I did the right thing, but how many people out there would have? I also thought, I know my food help with the state went up and this guy might not be lucky and get the extra help I get, plus if his drawer is 80 dollars short he could lose his job.
While it was hard with how much of a money crunch we are in, I know in my heart I did the right thing. It got me to thinking, how many out there would do what I did?
I will not judge, but if you were in the spot I was in today, would you have taken the money? or would you have done what I did?

I would have given the money back too.
One time, in the city, the cashier gave me $5 bucks over, I told him about it. He got all loud and acted like I insulted him!!
City people (or some of them), can be funny lmbo!
stay warm :)
You may have not only saved the guys job and also kept him from a lot of undeserved scrutiny. I don't know about Karma but I do believe you will be rewarded one for your actions. I truly believe that when you are in need of the same kind of compassion, it will be provided, just as you did. You might not even realize it at the time.
It's a sign of the times that people today even wonder about it. If we were all honest in our dealings, what a wonderful difference it would make.
In the meantime, in 10 years your daughter won't remember what you did, but at least her subconcious will recognize that you were honest. In 10 years, you'll still be proud of yourself for being honest. That's a lot of reward.

I do believe in karma...and something great will come your way for being honest
What did you today was EXTREMELY honorable.
