Fidel tells Obama "Felicidades" on Health Care

President Obama went back to Iowa on Thursday, where he gave his first speech on health care reform in 2007, and where he won the Iowa Caucuses in 2008, but far away in Cuba, another world leader offered his congratulations.

Cuban leader Fidel Castro called the passage of health care reform a "miracle" but couldn't resist taking some shots at Obama, saying health care in Cuba was enacted years ago. In an article published in the state run media, Castro said the passage of health care would strengthen Obama's hand against "lobbyists and mercenaries" but then quickly moved to praising his own country.

This coming from a known Communist and a communist country! Yeah, that is not a good thing! Again, I am right! We're heading a bad, bad direction. When you have a communist saying this is awesome, our gov't isn't doing something right!

"It is really incredible that 234 years after the Declaration of Independence ... the government of that country has approved medical attention for the majority of its citizens, something that Cuba was able to do half a century ago," Castro wrote.

Your also a communist totalitarian country! Your people have no rights. Is this really where America wants to go???? Do we really want to turn out like this???? I don't think anyone in their right mind would say yes.

Since taking office, President Obama has already lifted travel restrictions for Cuban Americans in the United States wishing to visit their home country as well as sending family members unlimited funds. But as recently as Wednesday,Â the administration put out a statement condemning repression and human rights in Cuba.

That's awfully hypocritical, considering this administration is doing the same thing! The HC Reform is the very beginning ofÂ repressionÂ and lack of human rights!

Cuba provides free health to all its citizens, although with recent economic troubles in that nation the government has warned the free health care as well as subsidized housing and food may not be be able to continue.

Oh surprise, surprise, it causes economic issues. That is truly a real shocker. NOT! This is exactly we're we are headed people, except we will be taxed out the wazoo and charged for NOT having HC! That's just frigging ridiculous!

In Thursday's article Castro hopes that the recent actions against Cuba don't change what he already thinks about the U.S. President.

"I hope that the stupid things he sometimes says about Cuba don't cloud over that intelligence," he said.

OMG, he likes our President, yet another bad omen...so not good. Need I say more?

People will come here and sing the praises of Cuba's system, but let me tell you, my husband and his family came here from Cuba in the 1950's and with family still living there, I can tell you it's terrible the conditions they live under. Sure, they have free doctors, but you can't see one. There is little food and my mother in law would cry when her sister would write and tell her that she often told her children that she wasn't hungry (when she was) so that there would be more food for her grandchildren. They cannot get things we take for granted such as soaps, toothpaste, OTC meds, all the things we take for granted. Since the officials would often open package and take things for themselves, especially money, we learned how to roll a bill and slip it into a tube of toothpaste for them. No one will EVER tell me how 'good' it is over there.
Fidel should and shall burn in hell. I won't even go into the friends of the family who went back, never to return to the States. No word, they just disappeared. Yeah.

Oh, Katie, that's so sad. I'm always amazed that people don't realize how many are willing to die trying to escape Cuba. Having lived in FL, that was quite obvious.

Michael Moore did us all a disservice by going there and filming. People think that Cuba is a great place because of him.

I think the states, individually, are going to have a few things to say to the States, as a group. And they should.

When Moore (as in gimme more) did that documentary, I refused to see it and was so angry when people would praise the system they 'thought' they have in Cuba. They no nothing and stupidly and blindly follow their leftist agenda.
I just hope we can wake them up before we get to this point.

We need to take back the local and state governments with true Constitutional Conservatives. Once we have the states back, we will not need to legislate, the states have the power, they just forgot. We just tell the central govt. You work for us, we created you and we will no longer follow your unconstitutional mandates; we do not care what the courts say the constitution means we listen to the people who wrote it. This means all the federal bureaucracies no longer exist because they are all unconstitutional. then we hold a Constitutional convention with the other states and re-word the parts of the Constitution that have been wildly abused, such as the commerce clause and the general welfare clause. We repeal the 16th, 17th and the 24th re-word the 14th so it is clear in its meaning and put a leash on the judiciary.
