Ohio's Appliance Rebate or Cash for Clunkers starts March 26 at 8:00 am. Here is a link to a site with a list of how to get your rebate, time restraints, what appliances are available for rebates and more.
There are limited numbers of rebates available for each appliance, so don't dilly dally. If you need a new refrigerator and a couple of thousand people in Ohio need one sooner, you'll miss out.
However, if for example you need a new refrigerator, and have to put it on a credit card for 20%, you will have eaten up your economic gain after a month or two. Also, you need to buy only "energy star appliances."
I have saved up for my refrigerator in Oklahoma the date is April 22, but if I'm not paying cash, I'm not buying.
Also, if you remember the cars cash for clunkers ran out of cash quickly so do be aware of time restraints. Some stores will carry off the old appliance. So the article link above is a good one with lots of helpful information.
