BRITISH POP STAR LILY ALLEN RETIRING TO TRY REALITY FASHION SHOW? (PICTURE, VIDEO)

Lily Allen, of SMILE fame and celebrity notoriety, has announced that she is retiring from being "Lily Allen," but there are still some stars in her eyes.

According to the British daily THE SUN, Allen will star in her own reality TV documentary series, following her eventual change from pop singer to clothing designer. Footage has already been shot that documents the process of her opening a clothing store with her sister, aptly called LUCY IN DISGUISE. "Lily was approached about the TV show and thought it would help promote her new ventures as well as letting people get to know her a bit better," said THE SUN's source. She has already been the host of her own talk show, 'Lily Allen And Friends,' on BBC3, but a planned second season will not be completed.

Allen is slated to perform a July 4 concert, which will reportedly be her final show as "Lily Allen." On Twitter, she offered that she is serious about leaving the music business and has decided to join a reality cooking show. "Now that I've retired I'm gonna try and get on 'Come Dine With Me.' I'm making chicken tarragon and leek pie tonight. Yum." Then, later she wrote, "Retiring from writing, recording and touring under the name 'Lily Allen,'" she later wrote.

Do you take these types of claims seriously by pop stars who have the world at their feet? Is "retirement" of one sort or another a way of just getting additional attention? Allen has never shied away from the camera so it's not surprising that her bombasts would be broadcast all over Kingdom come.
