What's on your St. Patty's Day Menu?

St. Patrick's Day is just around the corner.  We'll be celebrating this weekend at McGuire's 33rd Annual St. Patrick's Day Prediction Run with Irish fare, Irish Wakes, Irish Coffee, and beer.

On St. Patrick's Day, I'm thinking of making this Vegan Veggie Pot Pie.  I used to love pot pies when I was little, and I think a vegan one full of veggies would be great and much healthier.  It's also gluten-free if you're watching your gluten intake!

I'm also considering making these Colcannon Puffs at some point.  I'm hoping that Little Miss may enjoy them.  We're invited to a potluck Saturday night, so maybe we'll make them for that!

I love potpies as well. I've made a homemade one before, but it needed work (maybe a new recipe this time).

Not sure what I'll be doing or St. Patrick's Day. My mom always used to make a 'grasshopper pie'-- minty ice cream pie. Hmmm...

April, you are a woman of like mind. I love St. Patrick's Day and celebrate in one way or another for days. The menu for St. Pat's Day around here will be corned beef and cabbage, potatoes and corn bread. Green beer and coffee with Bailey's Irish Cream. Maybe we'll make some soda bread. It was good the laslt time we did, and the recipe was simple.

Jackson, MS has a fantastic St. Patrick's Day parade. We were able to go last year and am hoping to be able to go this year.

Have you ever seen Chicago's river green for St. Patrick's Day? One year we would love to do that.

That sounds good! I found a recipe for vegan corned beef and cabbage, but I'm not a big fan of the "fake meat". I've always been afraid to try making soda bread for some reason.

The have a green river in Savannah as well - I want to go to that one.

We're doing corned beef and potatoes as our main meal (we don't like cooked cabbage, so that's out). We usually do a lot of green foods throughout the day, too. I haven't really decided for sure on anything specific this year yet, though.

We're having a "bring your brown bag" lunch at work with potato soup served to the attendees as a side. And a "Green Dessert" contest with desserts to share with everyone.

OMG I live right under McGuires landing pattern and it sounds like those plans are getting ready to land on the roof some nights. My dad was also a pilot for the Airforce.

I also love potpies but this time of the year is hard for me because on March 16th a few years ago I had to put one of my favorite cats to sleep. Her name was Boppy and she was born handicapped. And then 2 years ago my pure black cat named Bear just passedaway for no apparent reason on March 15th.

You might say I am just a wee bit Irish in that my mothers madien name was McDainal. LOL
