Look for your tubes: those tube-based potato chips are having a recall. A Pringles recall was announced on Tuesday, based on that old, familiar risk: salmonella.
The root cause of the Pringles recall is the hydrolyzed vegetable protein (HVP) made by Basic Food Flavors, which issued a recall last week because it found salmonella in its equipment. HVP is used in a variety of foods, and it was believed that the HVP recall would expand as products containing it were found.
If the Pringles can contains a "Best by" 2011 stamp, they may be at risk. Those should be considered affected by the Pringles recall.
The Pringles recall affects two Pringles flavors: Restaurant Cravers Cheeseburger and Family Faves Taco Night. Consumers who have purchased the recalled Pringles products should discard the product and call Procter & Gamble at 1-877-876-7881 for a replacement coupon or refund.
