Many fans and driver Brad Keselowski want to see NASCAR's Carl Edwards suspended due to an incident in yesterday's race at Atlanta Motor Speedway. Keselowski is calling for his fellow Sprint Cup driver to be suspended for at least one race after the wreck he caused during the Kobalt Tools 500 race Sunday. Edwards admitted to wanting to cause the Brad Keselowski crash during the race but not wanting it to go quite the way it did.
The scary incident occurred when Edwards clipped Keselowski's car causing the car to fly up in the air and flip over before landing right side up and continuing to drive. The car was destroyed due to slamming upside down on its roof and crushing the driver's side. Luckily, Keselowski was unharmed in the incident and no other drivers were involved.
Robin Pemberton, vice president of competition for NASCAR, has stated they will examine all of the facts before making a ruling about Edwards. Pemberton did note "It looked like it could have been payback from the No. 99 on the No. 12" referring to Edwards and Keselowski respectively. In a previous race at Talladega last spring, Keselowski sent Edwards' car into the catchfence at the race track. At the time, Edwards didn't seem to have any grudge saying he believed Keselowski did what he needed to in order to win.
In yesterday's race, Edwards and Keselowski bumped during Lap 41 with Edwards getting shoved into Joey Logan's car. After that incident, Edwards spent a lot of time having his car repaired, while Keselowski made headway in the Kobalt race. VP Robin Pemberton said that in a meeting with Edwards post-race had admitted to wanting to wreck Keselowski, but not to send him airborne.Â
If it were up to Brad Keselowski, he would have Carl Edwards suspended for at least one upcoming race. Many fans believe that Edwards should not be suspended due to the fact no other drivers have been suspended for this sort of incident, however Edwards did admit to some wrongdoing. Do you feel Edwards should be suspended or was the incident an unintended consequence of his attempt to wreck Keselowski?

I fully believe that no matter what he says that he intentionally went to take Brad Keselowski out of the race.
190 miles an hour on one of the fastest tracks in NASCAR is not the time to hold a grudge and effect what you think is suitable punishment.
From what I say he tried to block Brad and it ended badly.
Ever think Edwards is doing this INTENTIONALLY!!!???
Edwards is a sorry excuse for a driver, role model and father.
I have no respect for him.
Doesn't matter if Brad 'deserved it or not', you know as well as I do if this was anyone but a rookie there would have been a much stiffer penalty.
But nope NASCAR cares more about ratings than safety.
Tehy proved that today.
He wasn't even in the race, competitively. He intentionally endangered not only the life of another driver, but potentially of fans in the stands.
I know that NASCAR stands behind star drivers, but this is ridiculous.
