Melinda Dennehy, NH Teacher, Charged for...

There's a new case of a female teacher getting busted for an inappropriate relationship with a student. Melinda Dennehy, a 41-year-old teacher at Londonderry High School in New Hampshire, has been charged with indecent exposure after a nude photo of herself she allegedly sent to a 15-year-old student's cell phone started spreading around the student body. She is alleged to have sent a total of four pictures of herself to the same student, as well as sending him text messages to seduce him into a sex act.

I really don't know what to say about cases like this, other than that what Melinda Dennehy allegedly did, like similar teacher-student sex or attempted-sex cases, is beyond stupid. I mean that literally - it is so beyond stupid for a teacher to think that their electronic paper trail won't get them caught that I do believe in most of these cases there are some serious psychological problems with the teacher.

Melinda Dennehy is out on bail and is scheduled to be arraigned on April 30.

beyond stupid?...a cougar?...what does the phrase "mature woman" mean in this context?...these comments would never be applied to a male teacher...what she did was sick and predatory, no different than if a man had done it...

Seems to me that a male teacher who did the same thing could easily be called "beyond stupid." I don't understand why gender comes into play. Regardless of gender, this sort of behavior by an adult is beyond stupid. It's indicative of a compulsion powerful enough to override self preservation.

emily, well, i think you covered yourself when you said you believe there are serious psychological problems with the teacher...of course there are...no adult should be engaging in sexual practices with minors...and anyone, man or woman, who has that sexual predilection certainly should not be allowed in an environment where there are young people...

Is it just me or do we NEVER hear about male teacher inappropriateness these days? I think every case I've heard of in the last 10 years has involved a female teacher. I wonder what accounts for this.

The cases involving women make better press. The ones involving male teachers, coaches, et al. don't usually get the media play. My local paper puts the male authority figure cases in the interior of the local news section and usually gives them a couple of paragraphs at most.

if you lived in bible belt here in oklahoma you couldn,t say ten years its everyear and its mostly coachs and youth group leaders and a few women sprinkled in every year,tell me why that is,t nelieve there is less effort to cover it up. its not because its not happening all over our godless coutry ,because of the loose morals of parents and leadership not caring. tougher school rules are needed and parent help is not what it could be!

Folks like her are obviously not mentally healthy enough to consider the fact that they will be caught. They are so caught up in their perversions and their need to fulfill their sickness, that they never consider the consequences. That's why it's hard for many to understand why they did something, when they should have known better, yet they did it anyway. Their mental sickness overshadows their ability to make proper judgments.
