The wife of NBA All-Star Allen Iverson has filed for a divorce the same day the Philadelphia 76ers said the point guard wouldn't return to action this season, according to The Associated Press.
On Tuesday, Tawanna Iverson filed divorce papers in Fulton County Superior Court in Atlanta, Ga. after eight years with the basketball star, the AP reports. She states that the marriage is "irretrievably broken" and that she wants full custody of the couple's five kids, ages 17 months to 15 years old, child support and alimony.
Iverson, 34, the No. 1 overall pick in the 1996 draft, played 10 seasons in Philadelphia prior to being traded to the Denver Nuggets. He later played for the Detroit Pistons and Memphis Grizzlies.
The 2001 MVP, who led the 76ers to the finals that season, averaged 13.8 points and 4 assists per game. His career scoring average is 26.7 points per contest.
