World Wrestling Entertainment has announced that major league baseball's hit king, Pete Rose, will be returning to the WWE to guest host the last RAW episode prior to Wrestlemania 26 on March 22, 2010, in San Jose, California.
Rose, banned from major league baseball for life for gambling on the game while managing the Cincinnati Reds, first became involved with WWE in 1998, serving as guest ring announcer at Wrestlemania 14. He was given a tombstone piledriver by Kane.
Rose resurfaced at Wrestlemania 15 in 1999, in a 'revenge' role. Dressed as the famous San Diego Chicken, he attacked Kane before Kane's match, only to be once again laid out by a tombstone piledriver.
A
lways the glutton for punishment, Rose returned for Wrestlemania 16 in 2000, participating in a tag match against Kane. Again Rose came up on the short end of the stick.
Rose was inducted into the WWE's Hall of Fame, celebrity wing, in 2004 prior to Wrestlemania 20. While it makes sense that Rose's RAW appearance will attract a visit from Kane, who wrestles on the WWE's Smackdown brand, it remains to be seen if this translates into yet another Wrestlemania appearance.
