Seriously Gather!

Sorry you're disillusioned with Gather. Personally, I find Gather a splendid place to share my time and energy and have reaped many rewards from Gather and Gather Friends in the few months I've been Gatherin'.

You are far from the only person who has noticed the issues with Gather, or the only one to post about it. A few weeks ago, a gather team member posted an article about how an 11 year old had gotten pregnant- and added nude photos of the worlds youngest pregnancy- a 5 year old.

The site has run away from real social interaction, and has become a glorified Enquirer. The only thing that makes money here, is posting tripe from gossip websites.

As for the blog, I had a layout change once that interrupted the ability to receive comments- it went on for almost a week of uncommented on articles before someone pointed it out. I changed the way comments were run- you can choose from the following options:

Comment Form Placement
Full page
Pop-up window
Embedded below post
The embedded comment form can not be used if you have Post Pages disabled.


Which is found under "Settings", then "Comments". I was on embedded, then tried pop up window, neither worked with the layout I had gone with, so I switched to full page, which takes you to a whole new page to comment. It works now on mine.

Thank you for pointing that out to me! I had no idea that that was going on!!! :) Thanks for telling me how to fix it as well!

i know they have stopped awarding some folks for voilating the TOS

I wish Tom would stop twisting peoples arms to come to gather. So you dont like gather.,....leave...no one is stopping you.

Maybe if you wrote something worthwhile then you would get a point or 2.

Gather no longer places as much value on conversations (you may review the Gather home page to understand their direction this month). You earn based upon how many readers you can get to your content...regardless of the quality, accuracy, etc.

Don't feel bad.....my points don't move a whole lot, so I just don't spend nearly as much time here as I have in the past.........I found some great survey sites where I get tons of surveys and make some good $$$, free gift cards, and such..........I know that a LOT of people have left Gather......but also, I'm really "into" scrapbooking and that takes tons of time....just made a very beautiful scrapbook of our cruise to Jamaica and Haiti in December.....am trying to get some of my photos on here but have been having problems.
