What kind of computer do you have? I love my new one!

So what kind (or kinds) do you have? What's your preferred brand? I only buy HP computers, so of course, I got me an HP Compaq laptop, 15.6 inch screen, goes a lot faster than my other PC, and has windows 7 on it

To answer leah's question, I got it for 348$ at walmart.

We have a couple Gateways, I have a Dell laptop that school gave every student ( I would never buy this brand), Missy has a Compaq laptop for school. I have had just about every brand in the past.

I want a new one...I'm saving my money. I have a Toshiba Satellite....it's a nice computer.

I just purchased a Dell Inspiron from WalMart. It included a monster monitor, 12 Gb or ram and three 160Gb hard drives. I'm running Windows 7, beta testing Office 2010, and loving every keystroke.

I'm having fun with mine. I hope you have fun with yours.

I have a COMPAQ Presario 5000. It is 10 years old... still working.. knock on wood..

I have an HP laptop which is falling apart even as we speak. I need a new one, or to get this stupid thing fixed somehow or other. As for what you paid for yours, good deal!! I wish I could find a computer that cheap up here in Canada.

Ashleigh's new laptop was around $300USD at Best Buys...again, American. It's a Panasonic.

I have an HP Pentium IV, 2.8GHz with 4GB of RAM that I got as a refurb for $200CAD. I prefer HP/Compaq because they hold up, unlike Dell. When I was system manager at a large aluminum plant, I bought 500 Compaqs for the plant. My last job as system manager, I bought 10 of them. These were all desktops.

For a laptop, the Panasonic Toughbook is about the best for consumer use, but they start around $3500USD.

I have several machines, and most of them are Dells (by the way, I've had great luck with the ones I've bought -- but the key is get the right machine, not the cheap one). My oldest machine used regularly is from 2001 (HP laptop, it does router setups, etc) -- the newest is just under a year old (Dell 10v mini Inspiron running Ubuntu Linux). I have my mother on a Dell Optiplex 780 with Windows7 Professional and it is running beautifully -- she got Windows 7 before me.

Gul -- at least put Vista SP2 on that Dell XPS. SP2 really help(s)(ed) Vista ... and I would agree with others that Vista needs all the help it can get. Having a few dozen clients on Win7 now, that is a nice option.

I have a Dell. It's about 2.5 years old, and has Vista. The laptop we have is also a Dell. My husband got it for his high school graduation, so it's almost 7 years old, and still works well. It has XP.

The two that we don't use as often are ones that my husband put together himself.

My son built this one. I was surprised how fast and easy it was for him to do actually. He bought all the parts, cleared the kitchen table, and "whiz-bang"... up and running in no time, LOL. Not sure what it cost, but he says it was way cheaper than buying a brand name with the same equipment.

I am using a Dell right now..but my laptop is a HP....think I am going to stray away from Dell...don't like how they do business

Oh I needed the biggest lap top out there, so that is what I have. Though I LOVE the price you paid for yours!!

There are several things I do not like about mine. This is a toshiba satellite p505. It has these buttons on the left hand side, I am continuously hitting them by accident!!
Well I guess only one thing I really hate about it. The keys are big enough I do not make to many mistakes hitting two at once and such when my braces are on my hands and the monitor is big enough we can watch movies on it and I can see it with no problems.
I think it is heavy, but my arms are bad anyways.
Disability did pay for it, in a round about way.....

Now my desk top is a dell business model with a upgradable tower. Some day I will update the tower, but for now the kids fart around on it.
Lap tops are cheaper made, easier to drop and such but all in all so handy to have!! Plus I personally found out I am not in so much pain as when I was on the desk top. Since this lap top can come with me, instead of me going to it.

I sure hope you have fun with your new lap top, what a great day for you!! WOO HOO!!

I will ONLY buy HP or Compaq pc's.
Once I bought a "locally built pc" that had re-furbished parts.that was the worst one ever.
The dell monitor I get earlier this year is starting to crash. about 120 days after the warranty ended.
