Michael Phelps is an egotistical spotlight...

At the Winter Games.

His London Olympics is going to be his last games, or so he announced, he's retiring. Its all over the news down here in Maryland, probably because he's from the Baltimore area.

The Summer Games are 2 years away.....um, its winter time, skiing, bobsledding, hockey, you name it, swimming is not one of the winter sports, and I think its totally tactless and stupid of Michael Phelps to announce his 'retirement' at the end of the 2012 games.

I'm really sorry but the athletes that are there are now overshadowed by the Michael Phelps announcement.

He should have waited until after the games were over to make the announcement.

I didn't like Michael Phelps before!

I like him even less now.

I like him very much and I don't think his retirement annoucement overshadows anybody else's achievement at the Winter Olympics. News would not come one by one sometimes. Alexandre Haige died. It made the headlines. It did not overshadow anything either. Sorry, I don't agree. Michael Phelps is one of the greatest athletes we ever had!

I liked him before but I don't think he should have done it during the winter games. He should have waited until it was over. He has a reason to be egotistical - he holds the most gold medals for one olympics - that is amazing. BUT wait until the Winter Games are over to announce your retiring after the 2010 Summer Olympics. Of course, this was probably taken out of context and someone probably asked him if he was retiring so he decided to take advantage of it and answer it BUT wait.
