It was an unlisted number

The dancing had begun, the fiesta's frenzy
Had started the day before Cinco de Mayo
As the drums vibrated rhythms of madness
I called for a pasodoble, stomping my feet
The band blared out their brass and guitars
I bought Ernest H. a drink as the sun rose
He left to continue his story down near the beach.
Downing a tequila shot with my huevos rancheros
I sat in a dark corner staring at the tiles on the floor.
She sat there with her long black hair, red lips and smiled
I reached for her hand and placed the black pearl there
Then with whisper, I ask her to meet me tonight in the orchard.
I would help her escape from her tortured life
We had one more dance, this one a waltz, it was magnificant!
As I whirled her around, Jose fired a shot through her head.
Each Spring I visit her grave making sure the daffodils are still blooming.
