High waves at today’s Maverick Surf Contest are responsible for injuring several spectators. Two spectators have been transferred to the hospital. Around 9 am PST, a set of huge waves came ashore causing the damage to several medical and surfers’ tents. A few people were injured from the stampeding crowd trying to flee the waves.
