Like many other Christians,
I’m living here on Earth temporarily;
ask to see my “spiritual green card†-
For my citizenship is with Christ’s eternity.
Being a stranger in a foreign land
makes me a heavenly ambassador,
serving a lifelong assignment
on a Godly pilgrimage as His sojourner.
Earth is not my final home -
For I strive to overcome temptations of Earth;
found in my identity with Christ
is the true measure of my worth.
For those who are unsure,
The Bible is my eternal passport
that provides my credentials
until I’m present in Heaven’s court.
I’m living here on Earth temporarily;
ask to see my “spiritual green card†-
For my citizenship is with Christ’s eternity.
Being a stranger in a foreign land

I sense that this is not just a poem, but "It is really How You Feel".
Great Post.
Today belongs to mist
Thanks for posting to my group, Anythingwriting
I'd love to see the opposite perspective of this poem from the person (a vast majority) that not only shows up to the "pearly gates" without the "green card", but passed through their entire mortal life not even knowing such a green card was expected. Indeed, as you say, they find that really all they are is "worthless" at that point.
God certainly isn't a respecter of persons, however, because my "green card" bible tells me so.
What will it take for you to write the poem 'for opposite perspective'?
I’m living here on Earth temporarily;
ask to see my “spiritual green card” -
a puzzled look is my reply.
Being a stranger to all things "jesus"
makes me a normal and typical human being,
living my life ethically and honestly
basically beening as good a human as I can.
Earth, I descover, is not my final home -
For I live on the neather regions of Earth;
never found any need for Christ
I never knew my worthlessness.
Was I one of the unsure -- no.
Having never read the Bible
I didn't comprehend the needed "passport"
until condemned in Heaven’s court.
UNLESS ... as he indicated, (and after searching I found to be mostly true) hell (whatever that is) only lasts (as most times it says in Greek) till the end of an age.
But choosing to put faith in the Creator (JC under another name :) is still required for this age per clear Bible teaching.
I absolutely loved your poem Joseph.
If a person preaches to others for 24 hours it is not necessary that the audience would receive the call to renounce mediocrity for a life of excellence. It is not necessary that even one would have received the message in good part.
Even the extremists who have dared challenge the world know that they are on the wrong path but are deliberately making a kill for pleasure. So it should not come as a surprise that Christians merited to be counted among the elite flock of God on account of their own good. Yes, salvation is there for all provided we renounce evil and take up the cross and follow Jesus Christ in the way He Himself taught us. Have a nice day.
This World Is Not My Home
This world is not my home I'm just passing through
my treasures are laid up somewhere beyond the blue
the angels beckon me from Heaven's open door
and I can't feel at home in this world anymore
(Chorus) O Lord you know I have no friend like you
if Heaven's not my home then Lord what will I do?
the angels beckon me from Heaven's open door
and I can't feel at home in this world anymore
They're all expecting me and that's one thing I know
my savior pardoned me and now I onward go
I know He'll take me through though I am weak and poor
and I can't feel at home in this world anymore
(Chorus) O Lord you know I have no friend like you
if Heaven's not my home then Lord what will I do?
the angels beckon me from Heaven's open door
and I can't feel at home in this world anymore
Just up in Glory Land we'll live eternally
the Saints on every hand are shouting victory
their song of sweetest praise drifts back from Heaven's shore
and I can't feel at home in this world anymore
(Chorus) O Lord you know I have no friend like you
if Heaven's not my home then Lord what will I do?
the angels beckon me from Heaven's open door
and I can't feel at home in this world anymore
I also mentioned you on a post by Connie C. looking for Gather authors.
I really, really love the song, "This World Is Not My Home." It is very true for me......I am very proud to be a Christian.....although it's very difficult having to live among so much hatred and evil in this world! I keep telling myself this life is ONLY temporary.....sure can't wait to see all my loved ones who've gone on ahead of me....woohooo, what a day that will be!!!!!
Bless you, Joseph for sharing such beautiful words!
Blow myself away for God's cause and I've got 70 virgins to look forward too.
Those darn Arabs own the oil we (righteous christians) want -- let's go assure that oil keeps flowing into our pockets and away from those "heathens".
Life is cheep once "christ" gives the "eternal" gift.
Santa Claus is real too.
