Puppy Bowl VI, the exciting 2010 edition, airs on Sunday, Feb 7 at 3 PM Eastern and Pacific time on Animal Planet. My favorite part is the Kitten Half Time Show. The puppies are cute but, let's face it, kittens have puppies beat six ways from Sunday.
It's nice to see Animal Planet take a break from its "really fierce animals and human arterial blood" theme and do something less violent. I suppose the suits at network headquarters figured that the real violence and mayhem voyeurs would be glued to whatever network it is that's showing the American football championship game. Mind you, if you want to see extremely large humans knock each other down and do their best to hurt each other you might want to give the kittens and puppies a miss.
My wife and I have assembled a stock of provisions for the event today. We believe that only foods with incidental, if any, nutritional value should be allowed during the broadcast. As a result we got some Hebrew National hot dogs (higher authority be damned, they have an obscenely large fat content,) and refrigerator case crescent rolls to make the traditional Pups in a Blanket. We may add a bit of cheese to the Pups. To complement them we also got some high fat potato chips and fake trail mix. The trail mix has some nuts but mostly has M & Ms and some kind of caramel spheres. We're going to wash it all down with Diet Squirt. We have the foodstuffs in a time locked food preservation area that can't be opened till 30 minutes before game time.

Even better, here's a video of last year's kitten half time show:
Just when you thought you'd had enough, more kittens from the past:

Since I will be, as usual, sans TV, this look at the puppy/kitten bowl will be as close to a bowl as I get - unless I tune in via radio, or go visit a friend with a set. Decisions, decisions...
I decided a long time ago that I would get as many of my empty calories as possible from fat.
