In a bit of shock..

I got a call from my sister today, her daughter (age 34) was just diagnosed with breast cancer.

3 lumps in one breast and at least 1 lump in the other one....she is just at the very beginning of this, so a long road ahead of her. She lives in Wisconsin. Her parents (and I ) live in Iowa.

I will wait until there is more news, but already trying to figure out how I can be there when she has surgery....

Traci will be in my prayers. From my own experience, having a good support system helps beyond what you can ever imagine. Friends and family, an outpouring of love and assistance, cards and calls and visits and prayers, kept me going through all of 2008, and I pray Traci will have a similar experience and a complete recovery.

Yes, I hope you will find a way to be there if it is at all possible. She is going to need support and just the presence of those she loves will help. Help all of you.
I will keep Traci in my prayers. Others have forged through this terrible disease and never give up the hope that it will be eradicated.

My cousin is currently battling breast cancer. She is 37, but the cancer was discovered when she was 32. It has come back 3 times, but she is still battling. She has good incentive. She and her husband have two little boys.

Almost a year ago now.. I hope all is OK. It's amazing to hear stories like this and then hear that insurance companies want to raise the minimum age for when women can have mammograms paid for by insurance. Crazy.
