Yes, Starr will be bestowed his official Hollywood Walk of Fame star on Monday, according to the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce's recent announcement.Â
Ringo Starr is the 2,401st name to grace Hollywood thoroughfares. This one, belonging to the former Beatles drummer, will appropriately, be embedded outside the landmark Capitol Records building at 1750 N. Vine Street.
Nearby, Beatles band mates John Lennon and George Harrison each boast a sidewalk stars, kept shiny and polished by adoring fans throughout the years.
Meanwhile, Paul McCartney has long been approved for a star, with the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce working to find an appropriate day to schedule the event with the former Mop Top.
Nevertheless, McCartney is privy to another Hollywood Walk of Fame footpath plaque since The Beatles as a group share a Hollywood star at 7060 Hollywood Boulevard. The Fab Four, honored by their fans, were bestowed this privilege in 1988.
As for the Monday night ceremony, Ringo Starr will be present when the official unveiling happens at 7 p.m. The timing is perfect for the famous performer who just released his highly regarded album 'Y Not' last month.
The former Beatles' 16th studio disc met with much acclaim, including kudos from Billboard who called Ringo's new music â€œsome of his best and most poignant songs in years.â€Â
Rolling Stone also chimed in with uplifting criticism of the new album, saying "'Y Not' is full of straightforward, sweetly melodic tunes, most of them about Starrâ€™s abiding optimism.â€
We are sure to get a first hand look at this "abiding optimism" as Ringo Starr is awarded his star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame come February 8, 2010 with wife Barbara Bach at his side. Performing for this fine musician are musicians from the Los Angeles Unified School District All District Marching Band, on hand to honor the former Beatle in the manner to which he has always been accustomed: Through music.
For those planning to attend, be sure to arrive early as the crowds are expected to be insane.
Side note: February 8 is also the 50th anniversary of the beginning of the Hollywood Walk of Fame, now a time-honored tradition for permanently acknowledging celebrities of all types for their artistic accomplishments.
