Lost Live Blog - Lost Season 6, Episodes 1 and 2

Lost live blog desired?  I have you covered.

Lost season 6 episodes 1 and 2 finally aired last night after what seemed like ages.  My husband and I watched the entire series - seasons 1 through 5 - beginning late last Fall, and finished up with the last episode of season 5 a few weeks after Christmas. 

The premiere asked more questions than it answered, and I kept a running play by play (a Lost live blog if you will) to keep it all straight in my own head.  It's below.  Please forgive the lack of capitalization.  My anaysis of what happened is here (and don't worry - it opens in a few window).

fades from white to jack sitting on a place, flight attendant asks how drink is.... Turbulence. Rose is sitting across the aisle. More bad turbulence, then it stops and Rose tells him to relax, jack says 'looks like we made it'. bernard returns from the bathroom. jack looks at himself in the mirror in the restroom, finds a cut on his neck. returns to his seat, desmond is sitting in his row. jack feels like he knows des somehow. then camera drops from the sky and there's an underwater sequence which ends on the foot of the statue being submerged.

does this all mean jacob is not dead???

Kate awakens and is in a tree high above the ground. it's dark. the audio is weird - muffled and it bothers her - sounds like she's underwater. climbs down the tree. her ears seem to adjust and she calls out hello. miles finds her and she knocks him down, asks him what happened, he can't hear her and asks if her ears are ringing. she notes that they're back, runs to see the site of the swan hatch after desmond blew it up. sees james and jack on the ground. wakes up jack. notes that they still built the hatch. sawyer true to form kicks jack into the hole. sawyer rages. upset over juliet. jack says he's sorry and he thought it would work.

flashback to the plane, jack, kate meet. sawyer meets kate. annoying guy talks with hurley. hurley sits across from sawyer. sawyer hears him say he won the lottery, says he shouldn't tell people that, hurley says he's not worried because he's the luckiest guy alive.

flashes back to hurley and jin and injured sayid. jin says he thinks they moved through time. they hear sawyer raging and jin goes to them. asks jack for help with sayid. kate hears a cry for help in the rubble. sayid is quickly bleeding out and asks hurley what he thinks will happen when he dies, imagines that "wherever i'm going can't be very pleasant". footsteps, hurley gets a gun. jacob shows up, asks if he has a minute.

flashes back to the plane with jin and sun, who are watching rose and bernard. locke reading crash pamphlet. boone tells him to not bother because they'd die, locke disagrees. boone asks why he was in oz. (where is shannon???) Locke tells boone he went on the walkabout. "if this thing goes down i'm sticking with you".

flashes back to 'john' after jacob is killed. ben stares at the fire. john tells ben to go outside and tell richard he needs to talk to him. won't tell ben why. ben is shaken, stirred, rattled. sun and Lepidas talk and don't trust ilana et al. ilana and richard argue over going to see jacob. ilana asks if jacob is ok. richard shows ben the real john's dead body on the brach. ben is surprised.

back to jack, kate, sawyer et al digging in the swan rubble to get to the voice calling for help. hurley follows jacob, who he recognizes from the taxi, to sayid. jacob leans over sayid. jacob says he died an hour ago. tells hurley to save sayid by taking him to the temple. tells jin to take him to the hole in the wall. asks if he still has the guitar case he gave him, introduces himslf as jacob. they drive to help juliet with the chains. sawyer is going crazy. proclaims 'if she dies i'll kill him'.

back to plane, if there's a dr on board please press call button. takes him to restroom, sayid kicks down door. jack finds charlie not breathing. asks sayid to help by holding mask over charlie's mouth. pulls bag of heroin out of his throat. charlie wakes up. dude, his hair looks different. oops.

back to jin et all trying to pull the beam off of the swan. wreckage. sawyer busts inside. finds juliet. bloodied. she says 'it didn't work' and sawyer tells her it's ok. she says she hit the bomb so he'd be able to go home. jack says there's nothing he can do for him, hurley mentions the temple. "can you fix sayid, jack? then you'll have to let me do it"

richard asks ben what happened to jacob. ben says 'why don't you go inside and find out'. ben goes back inside sans richard, ilana's goons follow with guns drawn. john says jacob is dead. tells them he's burned up so there's nothing left for them to protect. they start shootin at john, who disappears, leaving behind a bullet. then he smoke fills the room. big dude draws a circle around himself with dust, but it knocked him out of hte circle and killed him anyway. ben watches the whole thing. john is back, says 'i'm sorry you had to see me like that'. so nemesis IS the black fog.

sawyer holds juliet, who talks about getting coffee and saying they could go dutch. she's out of it. she asks him to kiss her. he does. kind of gross. says she has to tell him something really really important and then seems to die. sawyer emerges holding her body and looks at jack hatefully - you did this.

back to plane, charlie says jack shouldn't have let it happen because he was supposed to die. weird. jack returns to his seat. they're landing in la. the characters all silently ponder their lives in brief, slow mo clips. jin with the watch, kate with her captor, etc.. charlie is escorted from the plane by cops, gives jack a dirty look. he has his guitar case. they're all strangers, and it's almost tear-jerkingly sad.

jin, hurley, etc. taking sayid to the temple, hurley has the guitar. sawyer wants to bury her and tells kate to go but asks miles to stay. ? maybe because he can talk to dead people and he wants to know what she had to say? jack and james exchange a look.

back to the alternate universe at LAX, jack is paged to the courtesy desk. the coffin was never put on the plane. they don't know where it is. what does THAT mean???

back to the island, jack, hurley et al are taking sayid to the temple. hurley says they have to take him underground. given that the nemesis fog man lived here, it seems like an odd thing for jacob to tell them to do. they find a kierkegaard book. find a skeleton with a missing arm, jin explains what happened. it's dark but hate has a torch. kate hears the voices and then disappears. jack can't find her runs around looking. then hurley disappears. jack hears voices and is grabbed. they're all taken outside by the others to a structure overlooking water.

back to la. kate and captor clear customs. kate asks to use the restroom. she goes into a stall and starts picking the lock on her cuffs. she knocks him out and steals his gun. is seen by two women, but says she was attacked and leaves. gets on an elevator with james. she's still cuffed and he sees it. james deliberately conceals kate from security and lets her off the elevator. always one to thwart law enforcement.

back to island. miles and james burying juliet. james asks what she wanted to tell him. miles reluctantly agrees after james throws him down and seems to have a vision, strong reaction. he says she said 'it worked'. WTH? the others lead kate, jin, jack, hurley , sayid to the temple. they meet the flight attendant who say they were on the first plane with her. asian dude says to shoot them til hurley shouts 'jacob sent us!' then they stop suddenly and ask hurley to prove it. he mentions the guitar case. asian dude opens it and pulls out a huge wooden ankh, which he breaks in two and pulls out a letter. asks their names. they tell him, and say to take sayid to the spring. sayid cannot die or they're all in trouble.

it worked.

back to lax. jin and sun at customs. jin gets mad at customs, they find lots of money and say he has to come with him. woman asks if sun understands and she says no english.

back to island. water in the spring is not clear, assistant man notes. dude replies but not in english. cuts his hand and puts it in the spring. he doesn't heal. jack claims responsibility for what happened to sayid. asst says there are 'risks' to 'doing this', and jack says 'do what you have to do' and they instruct them to remove the coveralls and put him in the water. dude turns over an hourglass while a group submerges sayid. sayid starts moving, and kate, jack et al ask them to let him up, but they won't until the hourglass is finished. finally bring him out of the water, arms spread wide. dude waves a hand over his face and says 'your friend is dead' via the asst. jack goes to sayid and tries cpr. kate tells him to stop but he keeps trying. harkens back to what happened to charlie.

back to lax. sayid getting bags, kate wandering around hiding from authorities. gets out to taxi line and stands behind hurley. her photo is circulating, she sees her captor dude. he sees her, then she's on the run. gets into a cab with claire and pulls a gun on the driver.

back to the temple. they're sitting with sayid. they're brought food. miles and sawyer are brought in. sawyer is unconscious. kate goes to him, jack gives a look. dude wants to know what jacob told him. hurley tells dude jacob is dead and then a gong sounds. apparent panic. they all spread sand around the temple. fire off flares. interpreter says it's to keep HIM out.

to john and ben in the statue. ben says 'you're the monster' and asks who he is. ben comes to terms with what happened; 'you made me do it'. he was very confused when you killed him in re: when ben killed john locke. john's last thought was 'i don't understand'. john calls john weak and irreverably broken. but praised him for being the only one of them who didn't want to leave. ben asks what do you want. john says 'i want to go home'.

hurley says bye to sayid, and says if he ever wants to talk he's around. miles watches, makes a face. kate hovers over james taking care of him, he wakes up. kate says she's so sorry. jack comes in and james looks at him with hatred. james says he won't kill jack because he deserves to suffer.

back to lax. jack on phone with his mom over the missing coffin. john locke is behind him and asks what he lost. jack tells john they lost his father. "they didn't lose your father, they just lost his body". locke's suitcase of knives was also missing. jack asks john what happened to him, john says his condition is irreversible, jack says nothing is irreversible, offers a card and a free consult.

richard et all on the beach see the signal and he makes an oh crap face. tells them all not to shoot faux john. 'hello richard. it's good to see you out of those chains'. 'you?' 'me'. then he beats up richard and says he's disappointed in all of them. then he carries off richard's body.

jack is in the temple with sayid. the asst comes and asks jack to come with them because they need to talk to him. jack tries to fight them, and sayid gets up, asking 'what happened?'
