Many of you know Greg Palast as the investigative journalist that exposed the infamous Florida "convict's list", that proved, without a doubt, the lengths to which the Bush campaign had gone to, to subvert the democratic election process in 2000, but I have made it a habit to keep up with what he has to say on many fronts, and it's been rewarding and gratifying, on another level, as well.
As you may or may not know, J.D. Salinger, author of "The Catcher in the Rye" has died. I think Greg's profound reflections on that, and what the book meant to him, in his own life, are well worth a quick read. You can access it HERE

My story about Greg's "Best Democracy Money Can Buy"
One of my brother-in-laws is a daily Limbaugh listener and only watches Fox News.
He reads almost as much as I, but not all the same stuff. . . He bought the book,
but of course changed his mind about it. . .
He calls me the Bay Area Liberal, and calls my daughter the Santa Cruz Liberal. . . but he did include the book in a stack he sent over, I asked him, Did you read this?
Guess what his answer was?
We do both like to read U. S. History books, and trade sometimes.
He had earlier sent me the very excellent, Flags of our Fathers.
I can tolerate him. . .he doesn't vote, never has, so it doesn't matter what he thinks about politics.
